The Boars of America Record System (B.O.A.R.S.) is a simple system that recognizes hog hunting achievement and promotes hog hunting as conservation.
*All hogs count and there is no minimum score. There is even a category for sows. Yes, they have tusks too!
*Every entry gets an award certificate, will be recognized on the B.O.A.R.S. website, will be featured in the annual B.O.A.R.S. record book and qualify for special end of year awards.
*Our system is simple. We take the length measurement of the bottom tusks of the hog to the gum line and you can do it yourself. No scorer is required!
*Entry fees are $29.95 and that gets you an award certificate suitable for framing, a signed copy of Chester Moore's book "Hog Wild" and a $5 donation will be made to the National Wild Turkey Federation. Download entry forms below.
The Boars of America Record System (B.O.A.R.S.) recognizes three categories. They are as follows:
*Wild Boar & Sow: This category is for wild boars and sows taken on open range (not in a high fence) and only taken by hunters using rifles, shotguns, bow and arrows, crossbows and high velocity air rifles. These hogs can be taken in the continental United States, Canada and Mexico. There are separate classes for boars and sows. At B.O.A.R.S. we believe harvesting sows is an important part of conservation so we want to recognize their harvest as well as the impressive boars.
*Open Boar & Sow: This category is hogs taken behind high fence, found dead and by other legal means such as trapping, harvest with knife or spear. These hogs can be taken in the continental United States, Canada and Mexico.
*Polynesian Boar & Sow: This category is for wild boars and sows taken on open range (not in a high fence) and only taken by hunters using rifles, shotguns, bow and arrows, crossbows and high velocity air rifles in the Hawaiian Islands.
B.O.A.R.S. believes in a simple system of measurement that counts only the amount of tusks hogs have protruding the gum line on the bottom two tusks. We measure length of tusks from the gum line only-in other words the part that cuts. Measurements must be taken before hog is mounted and tusks cannot be removed from the skull before measuring.
All hunters must submit a score sheet as well as a photo of them with the animal and photos of each measurement. Photos become the property of B.O.A.R.S.
B.O.A.R.S. reserves the right to reject any application at any time.
Hogs of all measurements are accepted into the program and each hunter will receive a certificate of recognition. We believe all hogs harvested deserve kudos. Entries are $29.95 and the top 50 entries each year will be featured in annual B.O.A.R.S. record book. The top animals annually in each class (wild boar, wild sow, open boar, open sow, Polynesian boar, Polynesian sow) will receive a trophy.
The hunter who enters the most hogs into the program in a calendar year will receive our B.O.A.R.S. Champion award and will rewarded with a custom championship belt and will be featured in an article in the B.O.A.R.S. Record Book. With hog hunting size matters but so does volume and we want to reward responsible hunters who take large numbers of them out of the ecosystem.
